For me, art is about learning to be quiet and learning to be loud. Learning to explore and learning to accept. Learning to sit and observe, and learning to feel and touch. Learning to look and learning to avoid the preconceived. It’s freedom, and it’s boundaries. It is life.
Much like me, I'm old with art and new with art. I began at C.U. in fine arts and was "afraid' of making a living with fine arts and went into graphic design. I loved design for years, but some years ago the fine art side started to scream at me. I listened, in 2015 I went back to taking classes and devoting time to a love that had been put on the back shelf years ago. I'm still learning; there is much to learn. Therein lies the beauty.
I was born and raised in Crested Butte Colorado, as was my father and grandmother. I lived in Crested Butte through the coal mines closing down and the ski area starting up. Cindi has lived in Boulder Colorado since 1975, having attended the University of Colorado at Boulder, and graduating from the Colorado Institue of Art in Denver. Cindi is a well respected graphic designer but has always loved oil painting. Her preference for communication is thru visuals. She has been taking oil painting classes for two years with respected artist Rey Ford. She has also studied with Jake Gaedtke and Terrie Lombardi. Cindi lives north of Boulder with her husband, Dave Harrison. Her son Collin Harrison lives in Majorca Spain.
