I first got involved with photographing beauty whenI did a brief flirtation with fashion photography in my early 20s. I now live very far from New York City and I find my beauty in the mountains and prairies of Colorado.
There’s a lot of beauty to photograph here, much of it capturable by merely pointing your camera at something and clicking the shutter. I tend to shy away from those images and look at more intimate and quiete scenes.
I photograph grasses, water, ice, rocks, clouds and anything else that turns my eye. Unlike the grand landscapes of Colorado, these scenes require more focus and inner quiet to recognize the photographic opportunities and then the skill to take simple compositions and make art from them.
These challenges bring me never ending joy and there’s nothing I’d rather do than wander some stream or kneel in some tall grasses looking for and capturing the magical.
