Nature is my muse! There is nothing better to me than plein air painting with oils on a beautiful Colorado day. I enjoy working directly by looking closely and rendering an impression of what I see. I am very inspired by color and by natural light. I hope to convey what is happening with the elements of the environment in my paintings. I search for subject matter that has juxtapositions of form, texture, and color when I am deciding what to paint. I thin my high quality paints with linseed oil and apply them to cotton paper that has been sized for oils. Plein air painting is a wonderful way to be present in the moment. It offers me a way to interact with the natural world that is very satisfying!
